Robert A. Leach, author, clinician, and scientist/practitioner is the Mississippi Delegate to the American Chiropractic Association HOD since 2013 and had served as the alternate previously since 2003. He has served previously as board member for the Mississippi Chiropractic Association, and continues to serve as Chairman of its Committee on Research. He has been the recipient of several awards from the MCA including the Research Award (1986), Clinical Excellence Award (1992), and Pioneer Award (1995). He has served on several ACA committees and most recently the Governance Review Committee in 2016-2017.
A native of Des Moines, Iowa, more than 25,000 copies of his classic textbook, The Chiropractic Theories, have been distributed since 1980. Now in its fourth edition, it is published by Wolters Kluwer—Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins. In addition, he has published or presented several dozen scientific papers from clinical subjects ranging from children with attention deficit hyperactivity to correlates of the flexion/relaxation electromyography test, and from PulStar fixation analysis reliability testing and treatment of infantile colic to public health and wellness issues. In 2006 he earned a Master of Science degree in Health Education and became a Certified Health Education Specialist and in 2007 was named, “Health Educator of the Year” by the Mississippi Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (MAHPERD). Dr. Leach, in addition to continuing in full time practice since 1979, continues to write, lecture and ask the question, “Should evidence inform and theory drive chiropractic practice? In 2019 he joined the Mississippi State University faculty as an adjunct instructor teaching introductory class in health promotion for the Department of Food Science, Nutrition and Health Promotion. In the summer of 2020 after testing, he became a Master Certified Health Education Specialist.
